Hey everybody, what's been happening in the land of SG while I've been away? :)
It's been a fair while since I last posted a blog on here, really wish I had more time to spend on here, but sadly my time is very limited so here is a little of what I have been up to recently.
Good News: I have been finally made an employee at Guerrilla Cambridge, no more contractor position for me :) I am now officially a Grade 2 QA Tester for Sony Computer Entertainment! It also means that I am the primary QA for the next project of the studio which is going to be working on DLC for Killzone Shadowfall. This has made me really happy as now I know that my job is (fairly) secure at the studio.
Dragonboat racing: this year the studio wanted to enter a team into the Cambridge Dragonboat Race, only one person had done it before and we thought it would be a great laugh and didn't think that we would get anywhere apart from just having a fun day, messing about on the water. The first and second heats were fun, we won our races but we're not very fast so we thought it would just be the heats and then we would go to the pub, but then we won our third race - managing a time that was the 4th fastest lap of the day and things started to get competitive. We came second in our semi final but was the fastest loser which meant that we were in the final, things were tough, we were very tired, but we made sure we put on a good show, in the end we came 4th, which for our first time in a Dragonboat, let alone a race was awesome, so next year we are going to do some training and try and win. :)
Eurogamer Expo: this year I got to run the Killzone Mercenary stand at the Eurogamer Expo in London for the studio, it was an absolute blast even though it was incredibly tiring to do the full 4 days. The stand was running a 8 man multiplayer deathmatch which was for almost the entire 4 days, completely full of people having fun playing the game. It was incredibly rewarding watching people play the game and hear what they thought of it (all of it good news). I did get some time to play a few of the games on show while I was there, usually before the doors opened, and the standout game for me was Titanfall, which was just so much fun, they got the balance between being the pilot and being in the Titan itself perfect, I don't usually enjoy multiplayer fps games but this one was awesome. :)
Bad news: I'm on a break from my gf, over the last few months she has become fairly abusive verbally and doesn't want to trust me anymore, though I have never given her anything not to trust me about and it just finally came to a head last week, when I pored so e pictures from the Eurogamer Expo and just got a huge amount of abuse from her because I was having fun without her, we had talked an hour before and things were fine, she new how much I missed her and was looking forward to seeing her when I got back, and then she tells me to fuck off because I posted some images on Facebook. As much as I love her, I have time f time again found myself being abused by he due to commitments at work and wanting to do things like meet friends and I just couldn't deal with it anymore. We were due to fly to New York on Wednesday to go to the NYCC but now I am going to New York on my own again, which is really shit to be honest.
If anyone is in New York and wanted to the New York Comic Con, I have spare badges, 1 for Friday and one for the Saturday.
