2011 has been quite a year, lots good, just as much bad (or farcical) so I'm going to have a little recap of the past year. This year I have dome some things I never thought I would do and met some utterly amazing people at the same time while still managing to keep my study life on track and get into a really good position with my degree. Should be able to graduate with a first class honors degree!
The year started on a bad note, I was recovering from almost destroying my back and putting my planned walking trip back on the shelf for another year or so, worked myself up to asking a wonderful woman out on a date only to find that she was moving to Kenya for a year but I wasn't going to let all this get me totally down. My social and love life still hasn't improved but you don't win them all and I have never been very lucky that way.
I got my third tattoo which is also my biggest and most painful, a pretty awesome Thor sketch from Oliver Copiel on my left side over my ribs, hurt quite a bit but it was totally worth it.
I'm about to book my next tattoo which will be the Individual 11 symbol from the Ghost in the Shell series, I love the show and the symbol - it will be going on the back of my right leg, can't wait.
Saw some incredible works of science fiction at the British Library - such an amazing exhibition showing some of the oldest known works which go mack more than a few centuries, I loved it and was just grinning like a geeky idiot the whole time.
Went to a couple of very cool gigs, Combichrist who were awesome and Evanescence (yes I like them) who were amazing. Had to go see Combichrist by myself as I think my housemates were a little scared of the music!
The best thing by far to happen this year was my trip to New York and the Comic Con, this was my first major or indeed any comic convention and I loved it, so much cool stuff to see and next year I'm going to make sure I get tickets for a couple of days, the one day was just too much really. I met a legend in Walt Simonson as well as hung out at the SG booth with some totally gorgeous ladies Mitska, Chrysis, Fabriza, Porphyria, Lolana and Machete as well as the hugely talented CameronStewart. It was amazing meeting Mitska finally, she is such an amazing gorgeous woman and I was almost totally dumbstruck, far more beautiful than her pictures.
This was without doubt the absolute highlight of my year and made traveling to the other side of the world worth it.
The rest of my holiday in New York wasn't quite what I had hoped, its a great city but not too much fun to be on your own in. I saw some great places and stuff but it would be far more enjoyable with someone else there.
I have started to get back into shape, I'm running and using weights to get to a fitness level to do what I had planned before I injured myself, and I'm happier with how I look.

So that's really been my year, I've traveled further than I had planned, met some wonderful people, stupidly fell for a few women and met one who, if things were different, I would move anywhere in the world for. I'm still as single as I was at the start of the year but now I feel like I have actually started to live. Here's to 2012 and maybe just maybe that the right person isn't like a unicorn and actually exists, you never know, stranger things have happened.
Hope everyone has a great New Year, and stay yourself no matter what, because if you do then you are truly beautiful.
