Old people they are really strange and somewhat eccentric in their own right. For the first time in my life have I lived Remotely near my relatives. It is quite strange the web of intrigue and gossip that goes along with living near to ones relatives. I am probably the most different of most of my many cousins all in all they are pretty normal religious (eccckk) and cowboys (even bigger eckkk). My little grandmother, who rides around seated atop her walker (which she calls her horse) and scoots through crowds like the wicked witch of the west perched atop her broomstick. Actually has no problem with my differences (piercings and dress) which I find quite amusing. My mother sat for days worrying about how he family would take me and so far non of them have even seemed to notice that I am there! Which amuses me mightily.
Honestly the area in which I live is made up of two major groups of people, The city Slickers and the Red Necks. The city slickers, like myself, enjoy going out into the city, shopping, going to clubs, and bars within Edmonton so as not to run into the rednecks. The rednecks on the other hand are all sitting around waiting for the Big Yee (Large) Haw I kid you not this is what it is called a rodeo which is coming up in the next week. They drive around in their trucks dressed like cowboys and drink in the most remote of pubs where everybody knows everybody. There is a slight animosity between the two groups, for whatever reason I am unsure, but I try to stay as far away from the rednecks as possible (they kind of scare me a bit).
I saw my grandpa for the first time in years and he is getting so Senile that he didnt even know whom I was and spent the entire time staring at me as if I had two heads of something. To say the least it was a little discontenting, my grandmother the crazy old biddy that she is spent the entire time talking about her stuffed animals, the latest gossip, and scooting her way through the old peoples home on her horse like the mad hatter. I swear that if she didnt run somebody down on that thing I would be really surprised.
It is at times like these when I thank my luck stars that I am adopted. Between my mothers side of the family and my fathers I think I am very glad to have missed out on both of those genes. I guess it shows in a way too, because I truly am the black sheep of both families, unlike either of them, and really quite pleased about that for a number of different reasons.
So our moving van has been put off until the 17th of November which REALLY sucks, but I guess it will give me a chance to toughen my skin a bit. The thing that I am most pissed about is that all of my warm clothes are on that stupid van and it is down right COLD here! I swear that it is going to show soon, and every morning when I wake up the landscape is covered with a quaint layer of ice so that it almost reminds me of pictures I have seen of the Artic tundra. My dog however, positively loves the cold and takes pleasure skimming through Ice packs and twirling about on the ground. It is quite cute, but I wish I could take that kind of joy out of freezing to death.
Today I am going in search of a Library, for my mom had decided that she doesnt want to buy anymore books! She says that I read way to fast for my own good and in order to keep up with my quite distinctive habit that I positively must find a Library.
So I have been off my Psycho meds for about a moth now, and am actually doing a lot better than I thought I would be. The bouts of depression and mania actually dont even come to play here a lot. I think it is because the Canadian society just has that much less stress in its life that it is just that much easier to tackle those things that do cause stress. Not to say that there hasnt been any stress here, with the moving van late, and my dad doing everything in his power to be a complete stick in ones craw, there has been much stress, But I guess I can just deal with it better.
This place is so different in many ways, every store and place has a NOW HIRING sign out in front of it which is quite different than what I am used to. In Sacramento one would be placed on a 6 month waiting list before being even remotely considered for a job. In New Orleans work just isnt a possibility, with so many people and so little job slots one had to take whatever was offered. Here its really different and I quite like that.
Then there is the schooling which is more major oriented than general education orientated and I like that a lot. Because my concentration level is crap when it comes to things like math, I never was able to succeed in J.C. back in the states, however things look much more promising here.
Well I guess that is it for now everybody take care.
honsolo:
