Last weekend I started playing Skyforge. It's an Scifi/Fantasy MMO, similar to Guild Wars but with active targeting (or the illusion of it). It's fun so far. It has a leveling system like FFX- a grid of nodes you unlock with different kinds of points for stat bonuses, passive talents, and active abilities. However, the pace that they feed you new content is pretty slow. Unlocking new content is dependent on gaining prestige, an in game "score" that can be used to evaluate your overall level. You will end up running the same old dungeons many times on multiple difficulty levels in order to progress, unlocking new dungeons and the occasional open-world "region" where you can do quests. There are 13 classes, but you start with 3. I've been playing for a week now and haven't unlocked any of the others. These other classes are unlocked the same way everything else is- by travelling down the node map.
I have mixed feelings about this game. It's free-to-play, which explains why they designed its systems as they did. It's fun, but was also deliberately engineered to be a time sink. I think it's worth checking out, but probably not worth sticking to.
