I've finally made it home. Do you know the feeling of coming home, and having the memory in your head of what home should be, but realizing that the place you call home doesn't feel like home anymore? That's the state of mind I'm coping with right now. My father is somewhat immature, impatient, and has a severe case of self-serving bias. Remember Dr. Freud's idea that all boys have an innate desire to compete with their fathers for the affections of their mothers? I think my father has the impulse to compete with me, not for affection from anyone, but to show that he will always be superior to myself. I don't know what that's called, but it makes visits back home exhausting. I've been here about 24 hours and I'm already longing for some time alone. I love my family with a deep, unyielding love, but there is a reason I live 2000 miles away: sometimes they drive me crazy.
I got a new doggy for my parents. She's a little pound puppy, who looks like a cross between a beagle and a long haired dachshund. She's very cute, very happy, and quite playful. She's a good addition to this house.
I'm going to the beach tomorrow. I'm gonna sleep in the sun, read Frank Miller's run on Daredevil, and swim in the Atlantic. Forgive me for bragging, but I've looked forward to this for quite some time. I found my Dreamcast today, and was very excited about it, but then I couldn't find the plugs to connect it to the television. What a tease. A little Crazy Taxi and Powerstone would do me a world of good right now. If only I could find those damned wires.
Do me a favor, and smile. Because you reading my silly little thoughts makes me smile. Have a happy day.
