It's been rainy here the past couple of days. It doesn't rain very much in Montana, but I love when it does, because it reminds me home. There's nothing like falling asleep to the sound of thunder.
I was driving home yesterday, and I caught a glimpse of a dog wandering between some houses in my neighborhood. It looked lost. So I parked my truck in the garage, and walked over behind a house across the street to find the puppy looking a little bit confused. It was a border collie. It looked well fed, and well groomed, but it had no collar, and didn't seem to know where to go. As soon as I saw him, he came trotting up to me, and I kneeled down to pet him, and give him a good wiping off. He was wet because of the rain. He was very friendly but I could tell he was a bit worried about where his family was. He kept looking over a hill, expecting to see someone crest it. I stayed with him for a few minutes, until we both heard a voice calling someone's name, and he turned and trotted off, in a very determined manner, in the direction of the caller. I guess that voice was leading him home. It was nice to spend a few minutes with an animal though, especially such a friendly one. As I walked home, I silently asked my old dog, Bean, if he had sent me a friend to talk to for a little while, to brighten my rainy day.
It's the weekend, kids! I hope you all enjoy it.
Yours truly,
Zach
