So I left the loft on my second visit and start to drive home, more confused walking out then I was walking in. I get in my truck and start to drive just as the train lights start to blink and the gate starts to go down. I stuck behind some girl in a silver Porsche boxer. I have a clear view to the left down the tracks but I can not see anything to my right as the right view is blocked by a build. I sit, I wait, 5 min, 10 min, a few cars behind me turn around, a few even dodge around the gates. Its now at least 25 min and Im still waiting. The girl in the Porsche decides to dodge the gates and now I can scoot up a little and get a little better view. The first thing I see is to my left. Its a train all right but its just sitting there, about 1-2 miles down the track. A few more cars dodge the gate. Then the train starts to move, but its going slow. Its Amtrack so it should be picking up speed in my opinion, but its not It finally starts to get close and then a train from my right goes by. Then another! Now the train on my left starts to cross tracks and Im homing Im home free. Nope! Its been over 30 min now. One last train from the left emerges seems to be just sitting there. I wait, then wait some more. Could I dodge the gates like the majority of people that already had, yes, but it would just be my luck that when I did, the only time a cop drove down that street was when I was crossing the tracks. Finally after over 40 plus minutes the train goes by and the lights stop blinking and the gate goes up.
Forty minutes is a long time to sit and think by yourself while waiting for a train to go by. But in the long run, Im glad it happened. The loft was For Sale By Owner so that saves about 7% to the cost of the loft. In college I took Real-estate and Real-estate appraisal just so that when I was ready to by a place, I had some knowledge in the subject so I wouldnt make a mistake. I found this loft on http://chicago.craigslist.org and it looked so nice, they even had a website developed to show off the place with so many pictures it seemed like there wasnt even a square inch not being exposed to the possible buyer. Now these pictures were taken with the old owners belongings still there. After seeing it for the first time I left with a good feeling, but there were a few things that bothered me. Nothing I could put my finger on, but something. I said before I was shaking that I was so nerves, well I honestly was nerves. Now the second visit, but this time with my buddy to help find any problems.
Graigs List said it was Amazing loft in West Loop and the description goes as follow. 2300 sq. ft. gorgeous timber loft, 14' ceilings, hard wood floors, tons of tall windows (every room has natural light) 3 bedrooms (plus a walk-in dressing room off the master bedroom), two bathrooms, a fireplace, stainless steel kitchen appliances, granite counters, travertine marble entry and bath, rooftop deck with unobstructed views of the Chicago's loop skyline.
Heres the deal breaker. It said 3 bedrooms, but there was only one room with a closet. The other two bedrooms didnt have a closet. I remembered from school that the difference between a Den/Office and a bedroom is the addition of a closet. This made a huge difference in value on any property. So when it was all said and done, and a few years go by and I try to sell this place, Ill be stuck selling it at a one bedroom plus office, The third bedroom is off the kitchen and had French Doors (dual swinging doors you would find in a dining room)
This sucks, now Im back at step one AGAIN! I hate this. Sometimes I just want to wake up and have it all over. Oh well, guess thats life.
If youre still reading, Im really surprised. Im long winded and boring, but I do thank you that you did. Sometimes writing this stuff down helps me clear my head and allows me to think about the problem at hand. So I figured why not post it on my journal? Is that not what it's for? The poring of our day, our smiles, or our frowns?
To you I bid a god day, and restful night.

I was going to get a Sphynx actually, but I'm not super-allergic to cats, the fur just bothers me sometimes. It's weird. Different people have different levels of allergies, I suppose. I also looked into getting a Devon Rex.
But I saw that little guy and I had to have him!
