What a lovely day it has been... i went for a walk today by the river in Carlisle and along some of the old roman walkways. I also stopped by a field full oil rape seed (see snap photo below) and took some photos as well as a few around Rickerby Park. It's the first time i had been out that way since all the flooding in january so it was interesting to see what had changed since, evidence of the floods was everywhere - from mounds of twigs mounted up against the side of fences, the fallen trees awaiting to be cut up and even a small boating jetty sits upside down near one of the walk ways ( a good 100 plus meters from the actual river) obviously the flood water had just ripped it out of the ground and dragged it down stream. I also had a walk down Warrick Road, one of the worst hit areas of the city - it's just city block after city block of empty houses each with its own little warning signs regarding the hazards of entering the house in the windows - i can't help but wonder where all these people are now staying as ironically, most of the cities guesthouses and B&B's where on Warrick Road too and they have obviously suffered the same fate.
I had lunch on my own for a change sitting on a park bench watching the rabbits play fighting on the lawn, it's nice to see that they survived as there is no obvious way out of the park for wildlife considering that the entire park more or less was under water.
I also managed to bought some tickets to see the Subways at the Brickyard on May 5th!
Anyway, i'm going to watch tv me thinks now...
