Year twenty one and counting
In less than 24 hours Ill be 21 years old and while Im quite happy with life at the moment I cant help but feel Im missing something Im sure it will pass though. Im not doing too much actually for my birthday going for a meal with close family on Friday and Im working the weekend although Im out in Newcastle for a few nights next week and Ive got a SGUK meet in Leeds the following Friday which Im really looking forward to.
Ive scheduled to meet my ex-boss in New York, hes the summer camp director of YMCA Camp Hi-Rock, the camp on which I worked on over the summer of 2003 hes coming to London village in December so hopefully Ill be able to give him a tour around although coming to think about it Im probably just as much as a tourist in London as he is in either case it will be awesome to see him again Im hopefully going to return in 2005 as a volunteer for a session during the summer.
Im now seeing the girl I mentioned in my last journal entry, although its one of those just for fun things which suits me fine as neither of us really have the time for anything more. Shes a lovely person, we have very little in common really but then opposites attract I suppose. What we do have in common is a love for music and photography, were going to make a quick trip down to Liverpool for the Biennial arts festival sometime soon and she wants me to do a photo shoot of her sometime SG style. w00t!
Well in other news I received tre et Avoir in the mail yesterday morning from LOVEFiLM, its a fascinating documentary about a really small primary school in rural France if you ever get the chance to catch this movie then take it up. Alternatively you can hire it from LOVEFiLM for free mail me and Ill send you a 4 week pass (credit card required for authentication).
Oh and CD of the week has to be Fat Boy Slims Palookaville I had it pre-ordered from Play.com and it came the other day, its a much happier and yet more reflective record in comparison to Half Way Between the Gutter and the Stars perhaps representing the contentment within Norman Cook with his family life and the state of his relationship with his wife Zoe Ball post her affair tracks such as El Bebe Masoquista and Push And Shove make this blatantly clear. If anything it has a big beat feel to it reminiscing of an earlier Fat Boy album Youve Come a Long Way Baby which featured the legendary tracks Gangsta Tripping and Rockafella Skank over all if I was pushed for a score then I would give this album a solid 3 out of 5.
Demo Download: Track 12. The Joker 8.7mb (right clicky save target as)
Oh and I almost forgot I went looking for snails around my home city of Carlisle yesterday YES I WENT LOOKING FOR SNAILS actually, its quite sane check out this news report from the beeb or visit the culprits website its quite surreal seeing loads of people wandering around though bushes looking for four particular snails. Lol. Check out the links for this to make any sense at all
