I finally finished the first series of Full Metal Panic! the other night and it was a fantastic ending! I can't wait to start checking out some of the other FMP material out there (i'll hold off the second phase material and wait for the DVD release... hmmm... maybe).
For anyone who has never managed to check it out the basic story of FMP follows a young and quite skilled solider called Sousuke Sagara who is working for MITHRIL which is both a secret organization and made up of little more than mercenaries albeit the best. The organization is very technologically advanced and it's basic objective is to complete tasks for clients (i.e. governments) which otherwise would have either been too difficult or too politically controversial for any state military to complete. Sousuke is then sent to a Japanese high-school to protect a girl named Miss Chidori and for someone who knows little outside of a military environment then a high-school is a really quite challenging for him where he gets himself into all kinds of situations but it isn't too long before the whole operation falls apart. Over all the series is very entertaining and the story often breaks off into other directions which actually helps build the characters before returning to the main plot. The animation is clean and although the action is very enjoyable it does take a little time to get going but that's not something that really bothers me as i quite like a good storyline.
Word of warning though - i have watched the series twice though, once in English and then again in Japanese with English subs and the Japanese soundtrack with the subs makes more sense in some respects. Every so often the English soundtrack would say something really dumb and you'd wonder why the hell would anyone say that? - but the fact is, they didn't in Japanese version. Why oh why can't English dubs keep faithful to the original script!? So if you do check it out i recommend check both soundtracks out as the English soundtrack is really well casted aside for the odd translation hiccup here and there.

Bloc Party: Banquet (The Streets Mix) ~ iTMS
Release: Two More Years (2005)
I'm absolutely loving this remix of the original Banquet by Mike Skinner. Even if it didn't feature Skinners vocals (which are hilarious) you could easily tell who's remix it was as the beat is distinctly The Streets - this is the remix of Banquet that Bloc Party really should have put on to their Silent Alarm Remixed album not the Phones Disco Mix version which had been around for ages and had already been released as part of the Bloc Party EP the year prior.
