Now it was after 1am and I was tired, but I'm pretty darn sure that last night I saw something extra-terrestrial!
I was standing outside on the back patio having a cigarette when from behind the three tall trees in our backyard I saw a bright green light fall out of the sky, way off in the distance. So way off west I'm not even sure if it would have landed on the island, if it did land. Whatever it was.
I ran inside and quickly sketched it, though now looking back I'm not sure the moon was still visible. I might've added that in because I like my silver sharpie.
And then I did a bit of frantic googling and though I didn't find any photos (the thing was pretty fast!) I did find a similar drawing -- OK, this drawing is a million times better, but I'm sure actual thought and effort went into it. Mine was just so I could remember when I woke up.
Comments on a message board led me to the term "green fireballs" which led me to the linked Wikipedia article, which proves...
...the truth is out there people!!!

They launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in the States. This one carried the 'Concordia' payload (some of this satellite's parts were designed in Montreal. Yeah!) so now if you would just fix your eyes on the end of this shiny silver pen... {PHWOOOOSH!!}
