Why is it that as the end date of a journey approaches all too quickly and noticeably, the journey becomes better than it's ever been? I'm leaving California (just for now, hopefully) in less than two weeks and my little life here has been the most fun during the most recent weeks. Our LA trip set the bar for "life win" extremely high and since then the universe has been determined to keep the trend going. Sigh... and isn't it ironic, dontchya think?
But I can't complain!
I had a super city day today, starting with a shoot in the morning and mega points on public nudity. No, I don't have any photos, it was 11 hours ago... After that I went for a much-needed lunch at an Indian restaurant on Haight. Mmm dahl and samosas! And beer! I got there and ordered right before the lunch rush, so the place was empty enough for me and the front host to chat. Eventually a grad student from Berkeley joined in and since my plans for wandering around aligned with his plans to go Burning Man shopping, we set off to all the crazy stores up and down the street. He got some fantastic stuff, I found a few great deals, we ate crepes, and then I decided I needed to get tattooed while in California. So I did!
As he gave me a ride to Caltrain, he pointed out that I had an SG sweatshirt on and that he'd gone to a tour show on the east coast five or so years ago. Small world!
I had another shoot a couple of weeks ago with Jeff Faerber, an artist visiting from NYC. The photos are mostly reference material for a future painting project, but he also took a few rolls on Holga and I got some scans!

This past weekend, guess who came to town? Brooklyn, Machete, and Friskey!

Machete and Brooklyn:
So we had a girls' night taco dinner party! Rockezi came down, as did hopefuls theodor and Buellher -- who are both gorgeous, awesome, and have sets in MR you should check out, and theodor has a new one coming soon! -- and by the time everyone got here, there was plenty of food and wine to be had. Can I just say I love freshly-made sangria?
Buelher and theodor laughing during a rousing round of Apples to Apples:
...OK now I have to get off this damn computer and focus on the "real dolls" documentary we're watching.
