geez playing the guitar has become such a damn consumer hobby. today some fool brought his new SG (yeah he bought a NEW one as if there weren't way too many out there already, along with telecasters- and man is he proud of it) over and inside the case he had "Love Potion #9." Love Potion #9 is a shiny little woman-shaped black bottle with a spray pump at the top. Inside is some liquid waxy shit that reeks of ammonia, doesn't work nearly as well as Pledge for polishing a guitar finish, and smells much worse. And it cost $10.00 for the little 1-ounce woman shaped bottle. Fucking gimmick- and apparently lots of people are buying it cause the music store keeps tons. Of course if you look through a Musicians Friend catalog you'll find countless other examples of similar marketing shit that any actual artist would never fall for or even be able to afford. At this point, I love playing rock and roll, and guitar is what i am best at by far, but with all this dumbass consumer whoredom stinking up the guitar's image, I kind of feel like an idiot for trying to act like i'm a rocker or whatever while having one strapped on my neck. I sort of wish I was just already really good at drums, since guitars are in absolutely no way even remotely related to any sort of badassery anymore. In fact i am going as far as to say that it has gotten to the point where they carry a stigma that makes you a certain percentage more lame for playing one. I've already said this before, but i mean it in a new way now- I write songs and play guitar in a rock band, but I am NOT a "guitarist." If there are any kids out there thinking if they practice a lot and get real good at guitar it will make them a rock star or even any sort of rocker at all, to them i say quit wasting your time- put that nerdyass shit down and go back to playing your online RPG 18 hours a day. At least you'll make better friends there than with a bunch of other jackass guitar players.

I'd say to those same kids: "Don't get good at guitar cuz you might end up as angry and bitter as Yourhog."

I say pick up th ehand drums or didge or some other tribal instrument that is easy to learn and play.
