hey all your favorite nerd is here!
Corny, but amusing. Last month before final graduation project woo! Get to spend 5 months making a game with a group of programmers and artists. Very excited.
So I haven't updated this thing in a while. I go on here every day, I just don't always write something. I mostly love looking at the hopefuls, and I'll tell you why:
SG is like the gaming industry. I know, horrible comparison, but hear me out.
The big professional companies such as Epic Games and Ubisoft are the face of the industry. They have big budgeted games, they're typically the highest quality, and they have a huge fan base. They're awesome! Those I think of as the SG Models. There's another branch in the industry though, independent developers (indie). They strive to make fun games. They have little to no budget, ALL of it comes out of their pocket rather than being invested. So if a game doesn't sell, the developers all lose tons of money, whereas in big companies, the developers don't lose money, the publishers do. Indie companies also have a LOT of passion. They have something to prove. Ubisoft has advertisement all over, gamestop deals, etc. The indie games have nothing but a great idea, so they have a lot to prove. I think of the hopefuls as indie devs. They have a lot to prove, so they try their hardest to reach the top and get that large fan base.
So yeah, I love checking out the hopefuls. True story.
