Hi,

I'm off to Barcelona for the Forum this weekend, it should be fun checking out the new Herzog & de Meuron building, plus the usual dose of Gaudi to remind me that Modernism can be decorative and functional. biggrin

I'm interested in the Fountainhead book, but have extremely serious problems with Ayn Rands total nonesense pseudo-philosophy, is it enjoyable just as a novel, without the Objectivist progaganda? : wink

From abt 2 packs a day, Id say Im doing pretty darn good. I want to quit pretty badly , so I think the mere fact that I want it so badly will play a factor in quitting. Time to simplify!

Gotta streamline, less is best....As long as I have my wife, and a few...

Seems as though I offended someone again for having my own opinion, and for actually sharing it. For having a mind of my own, and perhaps alienating people who dont fit into my scheme of things, I am now an "assfaced, no talent, pompous asshole".
Geez, and these people have never even met me. Its a weird little world we live in.

HAHAHAHAH, omg ... I have heard that very same insult before! Maybe they got it from a movie because it sounds awfully familiar. Listen man, I offend someone with EACH journal entry I make. It doesnt matter if I say something along the lines of "kittens are cute", it will piss someone off. Its just the way the site works, and although I feel badly abt it when it happens, I just have to ignore it now because it happens so often that I cant keep up! And just out of curiosity ... did this insult happen on the boards, groups, or in someones actual JOURNAL?

I do realize that cheese and wine have nothing to do with sexuality, hun ... it was just me being the jokester that I am! Im really a very silly girl at times, as you may have noticed wink

your comment in reinharts journal i take as an ignorant shot - thats the problem between the two professions - architects think interiors people can only pick finishes and furniture - look at my portfolio

not one single project had an "architect" involved. we are in this together to promote OUR practice - to make people aware of the value we provide, be it architecture or interior architects/designers.

yes yourarchitect there are interior designers that shop, but they still design in their own way and add value to what we both do and that is what makes the masses aware that design is important to everyday life and it only benefits us all.

and happy birthday.

you totally missed the point YA - i clearly did not say architecture itself must be for the masses - organic, integral composition - whatever - there are a million different views on what it should be by a million different designers.

im talking about the practice - the profession - how we stay in business, how we get paid what we are worth, how we promote good design etc.

"there is a need for interiors people" well i am so glad you have validated my profession for me.

in my world i am no better then the marketing person that helped get the job, the cad person that sets up the drawings and does all the nuts and bolts work or the accounting person that helps me keep my project on budget

in the end its a job - just like everybody else has and your elitest attitude that makes you think you are better than interior designers or decoraters really surprises me coming from someone with as much experience and supposed love for the proffession.

i guess we must agree to disagree - good luck to you

Guess I'll give this journal thing a try. Lets see....I turn 43 on Sunday. Is it weird for a 43 year old guy to really dig this site? Do people still say dig? The age thing in my mind isnt really a numerical thing. I view it as potential to have more interesting life experiences. I dont believe in living the same day or month...
