I know its almost Thursday, but I had a great weekend. My latest contribution to the built environment had its grand opening last Friday. What a great event, Grand opening of the worlds largest Ferrari - Maserati dealership.
It was perhaps one of my finest moments......hundreds of wealthy beautiful people dressed to the nines, walking around and inside my creation, listening to a string quartet, being served wonderful finger food made in the bistro I designed, drinking Italian wine....looking a cars ranging from $110,000.00 to 1.2 million. I was wearing my new gold Brooks Brothers bowtie, looking quite dapper as I observed what 6 months ago was just a sketch. Seeing my own work make the transition from idea to "casting shadows" will never ever get old. Often times, I hate seeing people in my buildings, they seem to ruin the scale, and distort some of the details I thought would be memorable. But, this time it was so different, the people seemed to be part of the Architecture. Perhaps it was the combination of good public design, attrctive design savvy clientele, and fucking awsome sexy automobiles! I felt very proud to be me on Friday, and loved observing the people meander through the 28,000 square foot structure, and see Architecture and people interact. I will not soon forget that great nite.
