What a GREAT weekend!!!!! Fuckin' A!
First.....Friday nite saw my fave band play a rare show. The Sons of Champlin got together for a coupla shows this weekend, The Wif and I went to the one at Brookdale Lodge in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We had dinner there, a bottle of local wine, and then the show. The "Sons" began in the late 1960's and play ...well.... the best way to describe the "sons" is this way..... In the 1960's they were one of the first bands to be band from the radio because theyre biggest hit was titled..."Get High". Also in the band is one of the founding members of Tower of Power, trumpet player Mic Gillette, who I got to talk to.
We reserved a room for after the show, so keeping with my "swell guy" image no drinking and driving, or as my chinese co-worker says...."DON'T DRINK AND DRUNK!
The room was sparse and noisy but just funky enough. After a nice warm shower together, gave the Wif a foot massage, and well the rest....well...you know....we were ummmm intimate. The next morning We had breakfast, and the Leader of the band, Bill Champlin walked in alone. Now he his a legend in the music biz.....Grammy award winning song writer,,,,(after the love has gone) by Earth Wind and Fire, and he has been in the group Chicago, for about 25 years. On my way out I approached him and said...Thanks for the show! He smiled and said...Y'all have FUUUUN? In his funky East Bay Oakland Soul way.
The rest of the weekend while less exciting, was great, I made a big thing of lasagna, got some good Mendocino Pinot Noir....Now for those of you wine snobs that think wine needs to come from Napa or Sonoma...well get yourself some Mendocino Pinot.....It just does not get any Sexier! And the Wif picked out some good quirky movies.
Then today.....I finally got me some new threads. Yes its that time for yA to make his bi-annual treck down to the Gilroy outlets, and hit me two fave stores. Bass outlet for my preppy shoes and socks, and Brooks Brothers for my button downs and bow ties! I am stylin now!
So thats how I spent My weekend......now I have to clean up my saturday nite lasagna mess in the kitchen.
Until next time......remember and dont ever forget the wise words of my friend Hwai.....Dont Drink and Drunk!
