I finished Anarchism: From Theory to Practice by Daniel Guerin. I had been reading some of Noam Chomsky's essays and came across numerous references to Guerin's work, so I went out and bought this book... then I learned its public domain.
Oh well. Here's a link to it, if anyone wants to read it.
...and there's what it looks like, just so nobody gets confused.
I posted about it in the Anarchism group and gave my community-college-level review. I found it interesting as a 101 on anarcho-syndicalism, outlining the different theorists and practitioners. The basic concept is to have self-managed collectives and trade unions that compose a larger federation of such communities. Instead of a strong centralized government, the collectives and unions would be overseen by management committees comprised of workers themselves serving two-year terms.
Maybe it would have worked in Spain or Russia, had stronger nationalist/fascist forces not prevailed in their respective revolutions. Oh well. Maybe we'll get another try someday. I mean, given the chance, I would have made a stand side-by-side with Garcia Lorca... until the tanks showed up, they're a little too much for me... angry dogs too. You know maybe I'll just blog about it.
Also this happened when I wasn't looking...
Yes, that's the Lorax cooking a sea-turtle. I don't know anymore, man... I just don't know.
