This entry is for Wolfmoon98. I didn't even know who he was until I stumbled on the thread about his passing in Iraq, and at the time I was trying to find a thread I could be clever on, but after it all sunk in and I read the tributes, it made me realize how much I take for granted, and how meaningless "clever" can be at times.
My first impulse was to "thank" Wolfmoon98, and it's a sincere thought, but in words it seems grotesque and morbid, Why should I thank someone for something so wrong? For something that leaves such a void? But it's the larger, more universal act I am thankful for: the act of sacrifice, the willingness to do something meaningful no matter the consequence, the obvious beauty of one's spirit, which shines through to someone half a world away who never knew them and reminds us of what really matters in life.
My sincerest thanks to all the SG members who are serving us in difficult and sometimes intolerable situations. I can't even begin to express my thanks, and I wish you all safety and that one day you will be back with your loved ones.

I heard what happened yesterday and wanted to leave a comment in his journal... I don't know why. I didn't know what to say though and felt really stupid because I have no clue what he (and others in Iraq) went/are going through.
In other news, I play the mellophone in marching band. Are you going to tune into the parade? You don't want to miss my podunk school playing for the pres, do you?
