So I come home tonight from a pleasant evening hanging out with my buddies and find my mom with the phonebook out and my sister on the couch.
Then I see that she's sobbing and rocking with one of her rabbits wrapped up in a towel. The rabbit's got what looks like some vomit around her nose and muzzle and she's shivering something fierce.
We all pile into my car and dash to the nearest 24-hour vet hospital we know of. Fifteen minutes of driving to get there and they tell us they can't care for rabbits there. So we now dash to the next nearest hospital we know of five minutes more away.
We get there and by that time Phoebe has stopped shivering. Prononced dead in the examination room. Mom make arrangements to have Phoebe cremated and then came home.
Mom is now consoling my sister who is distraught but not hysterical, and is worried sick that her other rabbit Baby may contract whatever it was that sent Phoebe into terminal convulsions.
Fun night for everyone, huh?
