I had a rollicking good time last night.
Storey, Dragonchylde and I made an evening of it. Dragonchylde came down from Ft. Collins and the three of us went to the mall to hit a Hot Topic for shoes (I think). We were there for a while. On of the clerks remarked that I looked real excited to be there. I demured on that point, I'd had a rough day at work.
While I was sitting about, the store music system ended its playlist. I noticed that during the lull in background noise that there weren't any other customers in the store. The last song played was something along the line of Slipknot (I'm not sure). I then, in a reasonable tone, inquired as to whether they had any Air Supply. Storey promptly began beating on me with a nearby clothes hanger. It broke and then the other clerk handed him this big ol' hook-and-pole used to reach really high-up merchandise. Storey thinks I got what I deserved for the Air Supply crack.
We then went to the main event. We saw Flogging Molly at the Fillmore. One thing I've got to say about that band: they have a good time at what they do. Nearly every other act I've seen always takes themselves and their work seriously. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's fun to see them enjoying their work too.
I ran into one of my regular customers at the show too. As Storey can atest, I run into them at the damndest places. He offered to buy me a drink to boot. That seems to be happening with some regularity. I didn't realize comic book guys were such a valued commodity.
After the show we tried to find something to eat, but just about everything was closed.
Denny's wasn't. We went. To Denny's. (I don't like Denny's if you didn't already guess )
The waitress was awful (as expected). I couldn't get my hot chocolate refilled! Storey, intrepid lad that he is, moseyed into the kitchen in search of more for me. He came back with my refill! Yay! Then the waitress shows up again, and told Storey that he hadn't needed to do that, she would've done it for us (yeah right).
All in all, an entertaining and eventful night.
Next is the weather and whether or not the South Jersey Shuffleboard Team will take the Cup or need hip surgery; Janice?
