Back in September or November, my wife got a phone call from her cousin who lived in Dallas. I say "lived" because she lives here now. She called to tell my wife that she had some news but asked her not to tell anyone in the family just yet. She was pregnant. This twenty-four year old was Prego with her sixth child. Yes, six. She has spent the last three years pregnant with less then a month in between each child birth and the next pregnancy. The father of the first four kids is in the Army and they are still married, just separated. The father of number five and six is an illegal from Mexico. He abandoned her before she found out she was pregnant with number six. She had thought for months about it and then called my wife. She mention a story that we had told about how we knew our second child would be a girl and how he ended up being a boy. She knew we wanted a girl and then asked my wife if we would like to adopt this child (#6). She told her how it would be a girl and that she was giving her up no mater what we said. She couldn't take another child and needed help. The first father gives her a bit of money and there for a while it was her only source of income. Two kids in school and three stay at home with her. No job and living with her dead beat mom.

My wife and I talked about it and decided to accept her offer and take the soon-to-be baby girl. After a week or two she called my wife back and told her that her mom had asked her to think about not giving the baby to us and sending her to a adoption agency. She told her "Out of sight, Out of mind" and that she had done the same thing with her third child. This 40+ year old piece of shit had told her 24 year old to give her grandchild away to strangers when someone in the family who was willing to take the child and giver her a better live. All out of selfish and self-absorbed reasons. This cousin of my wife was backing out of giving us the child.

In January we got another call from this cousin saying that she had thought about it and wanted to giver her to us if we still wanted her. We said yes and she and the five kids moved here and in with the grandmother. We got a lawyer and got the paper work started. The lawyer asked for more money then we had and I had to max out our credit cards to get the ball rolling. After five years of being in the red, finance wise, we were finally in the black. We had paid off our credit cards and had been over paying our loans and such. All of these were paid two months in advanced when a year ago we were up to two months behind. We even had one months pay in a savings account. Now the credit cards are maxed and we are half a payment ahead with most of the loans. No saving.

You know about four years ago I was looking at Harley Davidson's and at the beginning of this year I was looking at Yamaha Star bikes. Both time with in days I was told I was getting a kid instead.

I love my kids and guess I just can't have the things I want when there are things we need. We should be back were we were in 6 months or so.
