After nearly 3 years at one of the world's top rated craft beer bars... I have put in my resignation. My last shift is Thursday, and it will be a fucking RAGER!!
I started my craft beer career at a microbrewery, then moved to a big corporate beer bar company, then - I moved to Redlight Redlight; and I have called it my home and family since.
I've seen countless reporters, TV crews, journalists, etc... come and go as I poured their beers and they picked my brain for knowledge. I won "Best Bartender" in Orlando and just a week after was Inked Magazine's feature bartender for August 2013. I held my title of Head Bartender and Assistant Manager while keeping the highest sales of anyone that has ever worked for the company. I am the only person to sell a bottle of beer priced at over $300. I sold 5.
After years of remembering patron names, learning about their lives and families, educating, and helping build the current location with my bare hands... I must step down - and recommend someone new to take my place.
I have also moved to a new home. Why I picked this home? It's cheap as fuck. The ceiling leaks when it rains, the toilet overflows often, and my friendly middle aged gay neighbors have physical fights on the lawn - causing the cops to be called several times. I have yet to witness one of these fights but my other neighbors (tatted head to toe young men) have fore-warned me. The leak has been fixed for now, btw.
I start at my new bar on Friday, but am progressively sending my resume to breweries around the country in hopes for a representative position. So far, nearly 40 breweries have my resume on file. Only 3 have had openings in my area. I made it pretty far in the Terrapin candidate pool, out of thousands of applicants, but was not chosen in the end. There are some more current leads that have me excited - one I have already heard back from.
I started a Certified Cicerone study group. Our first meeting was last night, mainly to discuss how to go about a syllabus - which I must now determine how to prepare cohesively. My goal is to be in the top 15 Master Cicerone list. The "first woman" and the "youngest" Master Cicerone seats have been taken - so I think I will go for most tattoo'd. ;)
I got a flu shot today. My mother is a microbiologist for a hospital and says this years flu shot is the most accurate yet - for the types of flu attacking, and the flu is hitting hardest for those in the 20's and 30's. It is not too late to get one, but keep in mind it takes about 2 weeks to be fully working. Many have died already; some of which were being hospitalized for days and weeks, and still died. Science is cool, go get the shot.
On another note, I went canoeing. It was pretty great. My triceps hurt.
I also went to Leu Gardens to smell the roses. They all smell different!! It is my like most favoritest thing evarrrr.

Well, I think that pretty much covers everything since my last blog. @jessytai posted a great quote a while back on IG under a cute photo of her and her gentleman- it said "You have exactly one life in which to do everything you will ever do. Act accordingly." - by Colin Wright
Cheers! xx
