Been really busy at work the past few weeks in the lead up to the inventory we had yesterday, so haven't really been at this site too much. The inventory went pretty good, I think, in terms of fixing the huge problems with the actual stock levels vs. what the computer(s) said we had. All of this occured because of the new system we installed back in September. It wasn't the new program's fault, more to do with human error entering the counts for the items which had to be done by hand (I guess there was compatibility issues and the files couldn't be transfered automatically between the old system and the new one, way to go IT guys ) )
Now that everythings fixed the operation should run much smoother which is good for me because.....I got a promotion.
One of my co-workers is going on maternity leave for a year in December so they needed someone to fill the vacancy. The bosses in charge decided to expand the scope of the job from just processing credits to customers to being responsible for all discrepencies in inventory. Inventory Co-ordinator is the actual title they've given the position. So this means one gets to play detective when the numbers don't match up and that one has to fix the problem ASAP so we don't have a repeat of the last 2 months. I'm a bit apprehensive because I'm going to have to ask some dificult questions of people when shit gets fucked up and some of these people have been working for the company for years, as opposed to my single year. I'm going into this with the point of view that it's the problem I'm trying to correct and that I'm not laying blame on anyone (that's not my job anyways). I get this and hopefully everyone I have to deal with understands this but then again I know how people tend to react when they feel they're being accused.
Should be interesting though. This is the first time in my life that have the opportunity and trust given to me for a job. It's going to be a lot of headaches but I know that I can to this. Now.....if they would mention something about a raise.
Hope everyone's doing great
