okay, so first post then...
my room is still not complete. i embarked on the seemingly easy task of acoustic insulation about a month ago, only to find out shortly thereafter that this shit is not easy. fuck!
but eventually i figured out what i do need. the only problem now is finding that damn 703 and/or 705 FRK rigid fiberglass! i guess i need to check businesses that deal specifically with insulation supplies, rather than just going to home depot or whatever.
till then i was supposed to paint the walls....i painted the closet. sort of. grrrr.
but when it's all done (because it's certainly all been said), i will hopefully have a place where i can record my music in peace and have the music not sound like shit.
well, it probably will sound like shit, but then at least i wouldn't be able to blame my settings.
geez, i was so driven around this time last year. i was barely starting to write songs for this album--this experiment in pop, the complete opposite of the idm i was writing before. i cranked out a song every week or so consistently into the summer. then i stopped and decided to record them decently (i.e. in tune) and i keep getting snagged on every little detail.
i know it's just a cop-out to avoid the big steps...
because once i do finish the songs, i'll be forced to make it known: giving out cds, sending press packages (hah!) to labels, talking to people at theatres and music stores, forming a band and playing (gasp!) gigs.
grrr.
i'm really such a pussy when it comes to things like this.
i could put so much into this, so much of myself and my time, and have it blow up in my face and reveal me to be the charlatan i may be.
then again, it might not.
i know it's all about taking risks and working hard (i work hella hard)...
but is the talent there?
hmmm.
i should just record. i can't be stuck on this shit forever.
ray.
