Hey, guys!!!
I've missed you so much! I tried to post some pics on instagram but the internet signal was terrible in the middle of the desert XD
I got home sunday night and I took so many pics that only now I finished selecting the best ones. But no nudes, though. It was waaaay too cold for that hahaha =p
I'll divide this in 2 blogs and the first one is about the Atacama Desert :)
Day 1: We got to San Pedro de Atacama at 10 a.m. and went to our hostel, Ayllu, which is owned by a very friendly brazilian named Flavia.
It was very simple, but cozy. We loved it :)
Then we had a free day to rest and take a look around San Pedro de Atacama.
Day 2: We woke up early and went to see the Lagunas Altiplánticas (Miscanti and Meñiques)
After that, we went to Piedras Rojas, which was one of the most beautiful places we've seen. It was very windy and cold, but it definitely was worth it.
We had lunch around 1 p.m. and went to see the flamingos at Salar de Atacama
Day 3: In the morning, we went to the ALMA Observatory *o*
I was really anxious for this day's tour, because astronomy is one of my passions. And it was absolutely amazing! The guide explained to us how everything works and we got to see the control rooms. We didn't see the actual array that day, because it was really far up, but on our way to Uyuni, a few days later, we could see it from a distance and it was incredible. <3 <3 <3
After that, we had lunch, took a nap and got ready for the next tour, Laguna Cejar, which has a really high salt content. It was really cold, but we couldn't miss the chance of floating in the lagoon.
We also stopped by the Ojos del Salar, before going to the Laguna Lebinquiche to watch the sunset.
Day 4: We woke up at 5 a.m. to go see the sunrise at Geisers El Tatio and I can't describe how awesome it was. This was our absolute favorite tour in Atacama.
We got back to S.P de Atacama around 1 p.m, had a light lunch and rested a bit, because there was another tour in the afternoon, the Valle de la Luna and the Valle de la Muerte, where we would watch the sunset one more time.
Valle the la Luna had a kind of a trekking part, with some caves and rocks to climb, which I wasn't expecting, but even with my injured knee, I did ok.
Then we went to the Piedra del Coyote, where it was really windy so I didn't have the courage to stand near the edge.
After that, sunset at Valle de la Muerte
Day 5: On our last day, we did an all-day tour to Salar de Tara
It was a really interesting day, because we got to see some snow for the first time ever, on our way to the Salar. And when we were getting back to S.P. de Atacama, it started snowing over the Licancabur volcano.
We still had some free time, so we decided to visit the Meteorite Museum, where we could touch some real meteorites *o*
We had our last dinner at a great little restaurant called Pica del Índio, with live local music and great pasta.
The next day, we started our 3-day-trip to the Uyuni Salt Lake, but that's for the next blog (which I'll try to write later today).
I had a great time in this trip and the Atacama Desert part was definitely my favorite. I must say the pics don't show how beautiful everything really is. If you guys ever have a chance to go there, do!
That's it for now :)
I hope you guys liked it. <3
