SG Homework: What Are Your Top 5 Songs of All Time? Songs you could listen to over and over again.
I really loved this theme! Music has been a passion of mine since I was a teen and I've been studying singing for 10 years now.
People are always asking me if I'm a "rocker girl", because of my clothes, tattoos and piercings, which is funny because I hardly listen to rock... My favorite type of music is classical music :)
My Top 5 Songs of All time are the songs that I've always wanted to perform on stage. I know this dream is a bit hard to achieve, specially now that I've stopped taking singing lessons, but who knows, right?
1) Aria "Erbarme Dich" from Bach's St. Matthew's Passion
When I was 15 years-old, I sang the Matthew's Passion with the Coral Juvenil da OSESP, at Sala São Paulo, and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. When I heard the alto soloist singing this aria for the first time, I cried. Since then, I've listen to it hundreds of times and it gets me everytime.
2) Lied "Gute Nacht" from Schubert's Die Winterreise
I absolutely love this song cycle. Although it was written originally for a tenor voice, I think it's perfect for low voices. "Gute Nacht" is my favorite by far.
3) "Flower Duet" from Delibe's Lakmé
I'm not a big fan of this opera, but this duet in particular is perfect <3
4) "Trovas nº1", Alberto Nepomuceno
Nepomuceno is one of my favorite brazilian composers. I've already sang this song in a couple of small recitals and I really liked it because it's very confortable to sing, so even when I get nervous, I don't screw up.
5) Aria "Qui sedes ad dexteram Patris" from Vivaldi's Gloria
I've already sang this one too, in 2012, at a Music Festival in Piracicaba, but I didn't do it well. I was too anxious, there were too many people and it was my first solo in front of a large audience... I really wish I can sing it again someday and get it right.
That's it. I hope you guys like the songs :)
XOXO
