Hey, everyone. I'm very sleepy, so please don't mind any spelling/grammar mistakes... I've been waking up at 5 a.m. all week, because of my new job, and It's going to take a while until I get used to it. I'm definitely not a morning person -_-
But anyway... As I've said on my last blog, I'm going to tell you guys a bit about my trip to Alagoas, at the northeast of Brazil.
Days 1 and 2: Praia do Francês
Praia do Francês is a beach right outside of Maceió (capital of the state of Alagoas), at Marechal Deodoro. It's a great beach, but it gets crowded and noisy in the high season. We've stayed there for 3 days, at the Hotel Ponta Verde - Praia do Francês, and we'd wake up at dawn so we could go to the beach when it was quiet and empty.
The hotel was great, but it didn't have many vegetarian options at the restaurant, so I ate salad and pasta for the entire time we were there.
Day 3: Praia do Gunga
Praia do Gunga is a 15min drive from Praia do Francês. The access is through a private property, surrounded by coconut trees. It's a very beautiful place (I'm a terrible photographer, so my pics don't show its beauty XD) and also a bit crowded near the beach kiosks, but there are some deserted spots. My favorite part of the day was the dune buggy ride.
Day 4: Maceió/City Tour
We've stayed the last 4 days at the Hotel Ponta Verde - Maceió. We had some problems with our tour guide, so the first day at Ponta Verde was a bit stressfull. I didn't like the city tour, because there wasn't much to see. It would have been better to stay at the beach all day :(
After the city tour, we went to Feirinha de Pajuçara, a handicraft fair, where I spent all my money in bags, earrings, necklaces and cachaça. We had dinner and went for a walk at the beachfront sidewalk. Near Pajuçara we discovered a great ice cream parlor called Bali, with many vegan options <3
Day 5: Foz do Rio São Francisco
The São Francisco River is definitely one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. It was a 3-hour drive from Maceió, but it was worth it.
The boat ride from Piaçabuçu to the mouth of the river, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean, took ~40min.
Day 6: Paripueira
"Paripueira", in Tupi, means "calm waters" and that describes the beach perfectly. We went on a high tide week, but the beach was great anyway. Until 9 am it was possible to walk 300m offshore in knee-deep water. After lunch, there was a show with northeastern music (forró, baião, xaxado, etc.).
Going back to Maceió, the tour guide told us there would be an open-air musical that night, Gonzagão, a Lenda, and we decided to go. Best decision ever <3
Day 7: Adeus, Maceió
I woke up early, so I got to see the sunrise :)
We wanted to make the most of the time we had left, so after breakfast (tapioca with coconut), we went straight to the beach Ponta Verde, across the street from our hotel.
It wasn't the best beach we've seen in Maceió, but it was good. We had some time to relax, eat Açaí, drink some beer...
And then we got back to São Paulo. :)
That's it. I hope you guys liked it and that it wasn't too long =P
