So it's a past homework but I decided since I almost never do these I'd do this one. Brought to you by the letter X and the number 420 as well as @missy and @rambo
If you've been following my blog you know I am a therapist. Not a physical or occupational therapist, I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with families whose children are on the verge of being removed from the home or who have just been released from psychiatric hospitals or residential facilities. What does that have to do with my geekiness?
I am a psychology geek. I am currently reading a book called the psychology of batman, next will be the psychology of the walking dead. I listen to podcasts on psychology my two favorite right now are the arkham sessions and psychtech which is about psychology and technology.
I'm currently writing my own article about my field of psychology and a certain superheroes. When it's published I'll post a link.
I continuously read up on different models of therapy and am on different forums discussing psychology.
I'm also a comic book geek. I love comic books so much that Ive started including them in my therapy. I buy comic books and have my clients read them in session to help with rapport building or to help them find a new way to discuss a topic that was too difficult to discuss without the assistance. One of my favorites for this purpose "I Kill Giants" helping my clients come to terms with death of a loved one due to an illness.
I like All Star Superman. It's one of the worst rated comics of superman, but this right here... Superman doesn't need to use his powers all she needs and wants is someone to see her.
I get to use my 2 favorite things in the world for my career.
