These pictures give our readers a first look at Bimota's stunning new DB5. Bimota will show the bike for the first time and reveal full specs at next week's Intermot show in Munich.
Powered by a Ducati 992cc Dual Spark V-Twin (the air-cooled unit used in Ducati's Multistrada, Monster 1000 and 1000 SS), the DB5's frame uses a combination of a tubular chromoly trellis structure and CNC machined aluminum plates, and the swingarm is also a tubular trellis structure. Although no official weight figures have been released, the DB5 is expected to be one of the lightest 1000cc V-Twins ever produced.
Below is the full text of Bimota's press release regarding the DB5 and its Intermot debut.

BIMOTA AT INTERMOT 2004
At the forthcoming Intermot Show in Munich the historic marque from Rimini will launch for the very first time the prototype of its new DB5 model. This project was conceived with the ambition to take Bimota back to its origins: compactness, lightness and refined mechanical details were the initial inputs in the execution of a dream completely Made in Italy.
A dream, which Is about to become real, re-interpreting Bimotas traditional characteristics which have left an indelible mark in the history of the motorcycle, models such as the HB1, KB2 Laser, DB1 and other designs which have never been forgotten by enthusiasts all over the world.
Powered by a Ducati 1000 DS air cooled engine, this new model presents several details which only a Bimota can boast: tubular steel trellis frame with machined plates in aircraft alloy, a hitherto unseen tubular composite swing arm, and fully adjustable hlins suspension.
The styling by Sergio Robbiano, enhances the aggressiveness of the DB5 by leaving most of the mechanical parts in view; it could be compared to a jewel-studded precious piece of art.
In addition to the DB5, Bimota will also display its current product range consisting of the SB8K in the SantaMonica version, enriched by the best components available on the market (hlins suspension, Brembo radial brake system, OZ wheels), and the TESI 2D, Bimotas benchmark avant-garde model, which breaks with tradition via its revolutionary steering system and represents the companys ongoing radical research and development programme.
