I just got back from my local independent record store. It was a quite successful day as I returned home with six compact discs. They are:
1. Bob Dylan: Planet Waves
2. Bob Dylan: Street Legal
3. Bob Dylan: Oh Mercy
4. The Hidden Cameras: The Smell of Our Own
5. My Morning Jacket: Chocolate and Ice EP
6. Weezer: OZ EP
I know Dylan isn't typical SG fare but he is a genius, go ask your parents. The weird thing about Dylan though is his inconsistency. From 1962-1968, he was a perpetual hit factory, cranking out a new classic every 8 months or so, but from 1969-now, he has missed almost as much as he has hit. In fact, last Friday I decided to thin out my Dylan collection and weed out some of his misses. This turned out to be about 9-10 releases that were rather shady in my opinion. So what happens, I stroll into Switched On CDs in Novi, MI and there are 3 Dylan albums that are among his hits. So I defy any of you out there to argue that Dylan hasn't made some stank ass albums despite all of the awesomeness he is responsible for.
