So tonight is Friday, also the day Kaylyn and I have designated each week to go out "ghost hunting". Tonight we planned to visit some cemetery Keylee had told us about, far out Lick Creek.
We're thinkin', "Sweet. It's Friday the 13th. Let's fuckin' go.", right?
Unfortunately I do not have access to a vehicle, and Tom has to work. Kaylyn suggests borrowing her dad's girlfriend's car. Well, I wouldn't even have called it a car - more like a gigantic rolling piece of shit - but that's the generalized term. At the time, it didn't matter to us anyway, we just needed a vehicle.
I've got my shit, my flashlight and tennis shoes (you know, those basic essentials, haha), and Kaylyn comes rolling up in my drive way in this Corsica, that sounds like a God damned freight train. Her dad is with her, since she's driving on an expired permit - so we drive back to her house and drop him off, where I, being the only person in the car (Kaylyn, Ashley, and I) having a license, get in the driver's seat.
Let me tell you a little something about this fucking car. I mean that in the worst way possible. This demon-death-Satan-car. The muffler is falling off, you can hear it hit the ground when you go over even the slightest of bumps. There is no radio. Just a gaping hole. It smells like "wet rotting ass cheese", as we so eloquently put it. So does the air that comes out of the air conditioner. The gas gauge is off. The driver's seat is off it's track, so when you lean back/press the gas too hard/go up a steep hill, you fall backwards, so you have to hold on to the steering wheel as tightly as possible. The horn sounds like a river barge from a far distance. The ceiling is falling down. The back window is greased up with God knows what. One headlight is out. The passenger side mirror is missing. Please, if I'm forgetting something, do tell.
Here we go, driving this rolling shithole to Keylee's house. By this time we're having a pretty good laugh about the condition of our vehicle, and proceed to honk the "barge" horn at Keylee's house.
Keylee gets in the back. Kaylyn is in the passenger seat, Ashley in the back as well. We begin our 25 minute trek to the cemetery, which not one of us except for Keylee has ever been to. By this time it is around 10:30pm.
After driving for what seems like eternity, Keylee directs me to turn down this dank, dark, scary ass gravel road that appears to lead into a wooded area. Just out the road, we come upon a fenced in cemetery, nestled in the middle of nowhere. Already I'm feeling queasy. Like something isn't right. So are Kaylyn and Ashley. So is Keylee. I turn the car off and hesitantly turn the lights off. It's silent and Kaylyn has her eyes shut as tightly as she can, saying, "Let's get out of here. Let fucking get out of here."
Keylee wants us to wait. "Just wait until we see or hear something. Come on guys.."
Ashley is silent.
I don't know what to do. I have my hand on the key in the ignition, and I'm staring straight forward into the dark cemetery. I don't know if I want to see anything, or if I was to start the car and get the Hell out. It eventually ends up being the second choice, and we drive out and onto the main road. Keylee's saying we're going to want to go back now. We're saying no.
But then not ten feet out of the cemetery road, Kaylyn says, "Let's go back."
Since that's what we always do.
Curiosity killed the cat.
I turn around, drive back up the road, and we're parked in almost the same spot as before, only this time I leave the headlights on. I turn the car off again. The same situation arises, and we decide to leave after Keylee starts talking about seeing a man, and the silent darkness starts getting to us. I turn the key.
The car won't start.
I turn it again.
Still won't fucking start.
By this time Kaylyn is starting to panic. She's got her head down in between the seats. I'm attempting to stay calm, because I know the fear could only be a chain reaction, but as I keep trying to turn the key and keep getting the same dead silence, I start to panic. Hell, I start to pray.
Because face it, no one wants to get out of the car.
This is too horror movie-ish. Both cell phones have no service.
I'm still turning the key, turning the wheel, stomping the break. The car won't even roll when I put it in drive. Keylee is starting to get worried, but she's saying that someone has to get out and walk down the road with the cell phone, or someone needs to pop the hood. She had had a previous experience when she had been out there with her Aaron, and all they had to do was recconect some wire on the battery. Meanwhile, Ashley is still silent, as far as I can remember anyway, and I'm finally saying, "Okay, we need to get out of the car."
I pop the hood, and Keylee gets out. She can't get the hood up. She can't find the latch. So I get out to help her, and Kaylyn edges into the driver's seat to keep trying to start the car. I'm not feeling as frightened, for some reason, standing outside of the car, though still a little uneasy. I can't find the latch either. I call to Kaylyn to get out and help, and she reluctantly does so. Ashley has moved up into the driver's seat, and she's pulling her hair out, literally.
As Kaylyn nears Keylee and I, and the front of the car - the creepiest, weirdest fucking noise I've ever heard comes from the other side of the cemetery. It almost was like a cackling or a screeching. A laugh and a scream combined as one. So Kaylyn starts for the car door as fast as possible, and she pees on herself. Yes, that's right ladies and gentlemen, she pissed her pants. And I would have too had I had to pee at the time. I take off running behind her, but slip and fall onto my hands and knees, scrambling to get back up again, and scraping the skin off of both. Keylee is behind me and she passes me up as I fall, diving into the backseat, and I follow behind. Ashley is in the driver's seat trying to start the car, and Kaylyn dives in, pushing her across the car. We slam the doors. We're all laying there in little balls, in the most awkward positions, breathing hard, freaking out, screaming, whatever. I'm scared as fuck and I'm lying on top of Keylee, holding on to her for dear life, but at the same time I'm laughing my ass off. No idea why, I was terrified, but something was just so fucking funny.
After a few moments, and after an attempt to calm down, we make a second attempt to get out, but as soon as we set foot on the gravel, everyone wants back in.
A second attempt to keep calm.
We decide we're going to have to push start the car. Well, Keylee and I elected of course. Kaylyn behind the wheel. We finally coax ourselves back out and start to push, and the car just goes rolling as fast as it can down the road. We take off running and jump into the back action film style, and roll our asses out onto the main road.
Finally outside of the cemetary, we still have one problem. A vehicle that won't start. Cell phones without service. Key, Ash and I get out and start pushing again. We push the car into someone's driveway.
It's dark as fuck, sparse houses on one side of us, woods on the other. Kaylyn suggests going up to the house whose driveway we are sitting in, but Keylee protests, because it's 11:30 at night and everyone's lights are off. It's about this time that Keylee, Ashley and I start walking down the road, trying to get service in the cell phone. I'm thinking about calling Nathan for help, which is pretty bad - since I want nothing to do with him almost - but I didn't have a choice. We didn't make it far before we hear Kaylyn get the car to start.
We make it home. Here I am. Alive.
Happy fucking Friday the thirteenth.
No more "going back" to cemetaries and creepy places after we've been scared out the first time, and no more driving pieces of shit on wheels.
Definately.
