Back in the summer of 1997 I was Co-Producing an indepent feature film called "Lie Down With Dogs". I wrote this during some down time on the set, and found it again the other day- it was the first time I'd seen it in years. It's interesting the things my mind comes up with when its main focus is on something completely different. Anyway, I thought I'd post it for "Journal Poetry Day":
storms
----------
then I am falling apart
tearing these demons apart
in the rain falling down
on the way down
on the way down
picture-perfect paintings
skeletons out of the closet
the brush paints regret
and I'm all wet
slingshot into the storm
water beats on skin
I wish I was better
and you'd let me in
MeMoRiEs WiLl TeAr YoU aPaRt
string me up
beat me down
eat me up
swallow me whole
in the rain sometimes
I think about the road ahead
but water makes you remember
and leaves you stagnant
and I ran from them
in all kinds of ways
it's funny the things that you find in the dark
and in the dark...
I disappear
