last night, well yesterday, i wrote a letter to my mother.
it's the first correspondence i have engaged in with her for some six years (disregarding the very brief telephone conversation of '07 when my aunty made me ring her after she claimed to have had a heart attack. i say brief because she hadn't really had one hence the conversation was very brief. and that time she tried to abduct me off the street).
and it went something, very much, like this:
Louise,
The only time you ever reach out to your children is when you have something to gain and when you have no one else in your life to use for your own personal validation. I will no longer lend myself to your destructive games.
This was in response to a letter I received from her which suggested that the whole entirety of the first 14 sordid years of my life were a result of misbehaviour on both sides of the fence and that the past should remain in the past.
Completely failing to grasp the point that the past cannot be simply swept under a rug because my past is what has lead me to where i am today. who i am, how i think, the decision i make, the points of view that i hold. And now my little (12 year old) brother is going to live with her. Ha. I can't help but wonder how her fifth marraige is prevailing in light of her recent reappearance.
Anyway, back to your own problems people; there's nothing to see here.
