A glance into my brain, a conversation with myself:
"Language is a really interesting thing, I mean its sole perpose is to make the sharing of ideas easier, so even a word that isnt real, but conveys the concept, then it is just as useful as a word that already exists, or is recognised by the people who decide what is a word and what is...the mirriam-webster people, or whoever is responsible."
"Yea, I know, like the word "concussed" clearly is turning concussion from a noun to a verb in the passed tense."
"I wouldn't say clearly. thats a little bit of a stretch."
"Oh come on, you know what I mean."
"...I guess..."
"But you know whats even more interesting about language? It doesnt truely communicate anything, It is entirely based on assumptions. Some words are concrete 'stairs', but even those assume the person has experianced stairs the approximate size as those you have experianced. What if they had experianced stairs that were 7 feet tall, if they came up to you and said 'I climed up 6 stairs today, It was exhausting.' Your reaction would very likely be, 'This guy must be pretty out of shape, he only went up 6 stairs."
"I wouldnt judge him like that."
"No but you would make the assumption"
"I guess"
"And then you get to really obtuse concepts like love, or happyness, hate, sadness, depression, etc."
"Those were all emotions"
"Ok, well then knowing, or even death"
"Death isnt obtuse, when your heart and brain stop functioning, you are dead"
"Well there are other types of death, emotional death, social death, and then what about people who technically die for a short period of time, and get revived...so either people can come back, or they werent dead."
"Ok"
"And another thing, this doesnt cause problems with communications, but its really interesting to think about: the colors you see, others might see differently. Like what you see as blue, someone else might see as what you call red, but the colors are consistant, so everyone learns that the color that grass is, (no matter how it looks to you) is green, or that the colors of the rainbow, no matter what they look like, in order, are red orange yellow green blue indego violet."
"Yea, thats true, and while we are on the topic of assumptions, what about the assumption that anything exists, couldnt you just be one one long trip? or couldnt this entire world be the figment of some other beings imagination."
"That would explain the existance of god"...
Ok, im stopping there, before i get too deep, i didnt mean to go on that long, but once I start going...well, you get the idea
