I am now for the first time, and hopefully the last, putting myself on a diet. I have never been particularly overweight, but it is not just about losing weight or looking good...I have taken to eating such crap for years now. As a railroad conductor and a musician, my schedule is always weird. This means I eat whatever I can find whenever I can find it. Add to this the fact I am about 80% vegan, due to always having vegan girlfriends, and you have a nearly impossible situation. I have decided to take charge of my food intake. I am not using any standard template for dieting. I am simply eating nothing but pure, simple foods. I eat rice, quinoa, or oatmeal (at breakfast) in the daytime, with beans or meat or fish or any other protein that is basic on top. I eat fresh vegetables and fruit with virtually every meal. Believe it or not, this has really helped me. I haven't had sugar in a week, and I haven't really missed it. Anyone else try this kind of simple foods diet?

Nothing so simple, but I did cut out 90% of the processed sugar from my diet a couple years ago. Along with exercising, I dropped about 50 lbs. It's amazing what that crap does to you without even knowing it... It's in EVERYTHING...

It really is in EVERYTHING!!! The only answer is to just eat ONLY what you cook yourself. I can control my beans and rice not having anything in them but beans and rice, but when it comes to anything prepackaged, you better believe it will NEVER be just beans and rice...
