Okay, so I realize I really have not particularly posted enough to be noticed much on this site...Not that I generally have desired always to be the center of attention. I am glad to let the lovely ladies of this SG portal take the limelight. Nonetheless, as I perused the Help Section of this site -just out of interest if there was anything there about how this site got started- I noticed the section about gaining friends here was written by Missy and also s5. s5 very reasonably laid out the pitfalls of desperation some may fall into in their attempts to friend people here, and while I don't particularly find myself feeling like I am desperate to meet anyone more, I do feel like I could do more to serve the friends of mine who I already have on this site. Particularly after my long absence and the gift of my return, I am feeling like waxing poetical again for the benefit of my friends.
As I mentioned in my earlier blog from today, I feel like SG is a fairly comfortable place for me to enjoy being frank and creative. For me, I suppose, it has never been easy to express myself within the constraints of "polite" society. I see nothing wrong with nudity or foul language, and certainly I oppose every known form of censorship other than that which avoids causing others pain unnecessarily or being purposely rude. Additionally, as a Buddhist, I see no purpose in intentionally doing others harm. I also can see there is a place for censorship when something is simply crap, and not particularly worthy of sharing with the world. However, the reason for this censorship is simply to not cause others the pain of wasting time on something that is not worthy of that expenditure. What appeals to me about SG is that the boundaries here are fairly broad and if I want to be naked I can be naked. If I want to be sincere I can be sincere. -And if I want to be eccentric or socially and culturally divergent then there are people here who will not judge me with the critical eye of society's self-appointed police. We of SG do not have to satisfy popular culture's mores, norms, virtues, or values within this narrow window on our prison cell. This window can show us what life is like outside of society's constraints, its shackles of appropriateness and acceptance. It is this place where new culture is created, here where we can escape and be ourselves.
For all these reasons I want to make better use of all it is to be present here and now. Join me in expressing yourself and creating a new culture apart from that in which you may currently be more or less confined!!
