Before i begin let me get one thing straight, customer care is needed.
Sadly customer care where i am from has turned into something else.
Most of us will know the term, "the customer is king" a term i Always hated by the way as it means diffrent things to people.
The thing customer care has turned into in my country is that it seems the customer is now more or less a dictator that expects the store or place where they are to adhere to their whims. customercare has became a tumor on the world. like seeing a person peeing in the street and you say something about it and get told to shut the fuck up that he can do it as he is paying for my paycheck.
That is the bullshit customer care has turned into. people expect people in the service industry to deal with all of their shit. and their shit is a lot of bullshit. like the peeing man they feel they are entitled to what ever they want, using threats of going somewhere else, or the most popular one, "I will complain to your headquaters about you"
Their lays another problem, the headqaurters gives in to those whims, they treat the customer better then they do their own employee's, a customer sneezes and all the headquarters offers an expensive handkerchief and a $5 discount becuas they sneezed in the store and this means it was to dusty.
This makes them think that they are all powerfull, and the most illconcieved idea out there. the the store needs them.
well there is a little truth to that, but the biger truth is the other way round, They need the service industry employee's. think about it , where would people get their stuff if supermarkets decided to not be open for a week...... hell we are so used to places being open so much that we panic when we find out they will close for Sunday.
people go crazy and start stocking so much food and gasoline like the world is ending, or they are going on a all week survival treck.
people demandin gyou take their nasty skanky money but refuse money back if it got a little smidge on it. People that respond to hearing "No it is out of stock" with "But i am a customer"........not that it matters if you were the fucking president of japan, out of stock means out of stock for everyone.
we treat customers so much better then we do our employees is clear when we look at how overworked people get, and then go to a store and vent all that frustration onto an other employee somewhere and so on. this happens becuas the service employee is also a customer somewhere else. the mc Donalds cashier also goes to a restaurant or hell even a diffren mcdonalds to eat, and since they are so used to people acting like assholes they tend to act like one too to others.
And here is where the largest problem lies, if we look at it on a lawfull level than ........customer care goes against a lot of human rights.
Why ?
Simple, employees are just that, human workers ina stare , they are not the store, do you know how many times people have said to me "But you are (the store name) you have to accept this" but thats is just it, i am not the store, i am not the place i am at, I am a human just like them, and have the freedom of expression , the freedom of speech. Sure i am working at the moment , and when there is a disaster people have to listen to me, and as long as they are not a danger to others they can even refuse to do so (even if it is in the house rules that they cannot, )
Those house rules help both the employee and the customer, and where i work the first rule is the most iumportant one people tend to forget, follow the instructions of the employee. So when you want to pay for a 15cent piece of gum with $50 and i tell you i am allowed to deny you that , then you kinda have to listen to me, and not demand that i do it becuas you are a customer and buying something. It does not matter if you do , if i do not have it back, and have to give predecence to higher charges with my cashregister money you have to accept that, you want that 50 broken go to the place that is there for it , the bank, as the place where i work is not a bank but we get used as it, people overcharing their atm purchasses and if you tell them you cannot do it due to not having enough bills or coins, they look at you and sometimes demand you do it, as they are the customer and are buying something.
the behavior is Obvious a result of "Absolute power corrupts" we have createsd a monster, and it's name is customer care, but it is not without redemption, there is a redeemable thing in it too. being human to each other, being kind to others. you know .......being a decent human being becuase in the end that is what we all are.
human beings.
