The Iraqi War takes a toll on Marines
I was pretty bummed about reading this last night. It made me think of how every deployment, every det I was on, I felt a little more emotionally detached from everyone. Granted it's not the same experiences as these combat marines face, but the mental/emotional toll still happens for service members. I contribute this emotional detachment to me losing "the" ex and my wanting to get out of the next relationship.
Being out of the military has really made me feel even more inhuman in a lot of aspects. I can't trust anyone, the family I came home for doesn't welcome me with open arms, and my friends are all gone and away with better things to do. You wonder why I'm always on SG or Myspace a lot, besides going to shows, and it's because I don't have really anything going for me, except for school and paying my bills.
And people wonder why I'm always so angry, especially when I'm releasing that frustration out in a pit at a show...
UPDATE:
So I actually got myself out to Bleeding Through/Zao/Darkest Hour/Misery Signals/Fight Paris tonight. I actually got in for free, thanks to my friend Jayce, and even a couple of our Dallas Hardcore crew got in too. The show was 90% gayness, brought on by the shitty bands and the stupid "Pit Bull" bro-moshing fuckwads. Luckily, I'm not scared to thrash in a pit and I had my previous agression to get out, so no worries. I only started dancing for Bleeding Through, though. Their 2 new songs are kinda shit, so I might not bother buying their new album whenever they finish with it.
After the show I walked all the way down to RBC to go see Elyse. Well, apparently I walked into some drama, but luckily none of it was mine. The shit part is that I haven't seen Elyse all week and the 20 minutes I do get to see her she's in tears--it has to do with her recent ex-bf and a close friend of her's hooking up shortly after they broke up. I was more confused about the situation, but it kinda put a damper on the one person I was looking forward to seeing all night.
So, basically, highs and lows. High: I got to thrash some niggas in the pit (don't fuck with the hardcore kid sporting a Snapcase basketball jersey!). Low: seeing Elyse totally upset and only for a short period of time before she's off to Austin tomorrow (so I'll get to see her probably next weekend if she's not busy with her friends).

I never expected it to be one of those movies where you can watch it over and over again. Burgess Meredith is AWESOME!!
