WE WON! My group won the debate against capital punishment. It was pretty close, but we wound up winning because the anti-capital punishment argument has a little more information to go on than pro-capital punishment does; it also helps that our Q&A girl is hella smart and read up on the issues she supports (anti-death penalty in this case). That was the sweet girl I talked about yesterday.
I talked to a Naval Reserve recruiter today. Yeah, I'm seriously thinking about doing the Reserves along with going to school full-time. Luckily, my GI Bill benefits won't be affected because I changed from veteran status to reserve status. Actually, you get an additional $9600+ for college when you join the Reserves. The recruiter answered a lot of questions that I had concerning re-enlisting and drilling with a reserve unit at NAS JRB Fort Worth.
If I do decide to go back in, I'm hoping to land myself in VR-59 (a logistics squadron aka Navy taxi service) doing the same thing I used to do on Active Duty. Overall, it doesn't seem like a bad deal. You can actually drill more weekends than the required 1 weekend a month, meaning MORE PAY. I'm going to think it over and think if it would be a good deal for me or not.
Being a full-time student and a part-time sailor doesn't sound too bad, actually.
