I can't even begin to tell everyone how much I despise the winter time. It's cold, and slippery... And dangerous to drive in. Just found that out first-hand. Within a two hour timespan, I ended up about four hundred dollars in debt...
I had some errands to run today and I asked wolfwood to come along so I wouldn't be bored, and so she wouldn't be stuck in the house. We went out to the mall and I got my hair cut and picked up my Hot Topic schedule. On the way out, I ran into my Manager, Amanda, who was stranded because her car had decided that it didn't want to work. I offered to drive her home.
After having dropped Amanda off at her place, wolfwood and I started back towards our place downtown. Not ten minutes after pulling out of Amanda's driveway, the accident happened.
Picture this:
I'm driving at a reasonable speed for the (horribly snowy) weather as we near the bottom of a long hill. Nearly 300 feet from the bottom of the hill, I think to myself, 'Hmm... I might not be able to stop very easily', thus begin breaking... Midway down the hill.
We're nearing the bottom of the hill and I haven't lost much speed, if any. There are two cars sitting at the stop sign at the end of this hill and I don't exactly feel like running headlong into one of their back ends. I look for a way out. The grass on the side of the road looks like a good place to roll into. I'm getting over fairly nicely and I start to think I've averted disaster when my back end flies out from behind me and into one of the cars I've tried not to hit. My car took the brunt of the damage. Not only do I lose my left tail-light, but I end up ditched and cold as hell. We exchange information and half an hour later the police show up. Everything gets taken care of and I get a nice 198 dollar ticket, followed by a 131 dollar fee for getting my car out of the ditch... I have yet to find out how much it's going to cost me to fix both my van and the other guy's bumper... I'm counting on it being a nice, heavy chunk of change, though. Lovely. The next few months should be rather interesting, if not hellish.
Drop me a line here or call me.
