I finally listened to Brian Wilson's SMILE. I have never been that into the Beach Boys, and I don't know if it was the wine talking or what, but SMILE knocked me on my ass. As soon as I put it on I sat down and listened to the whole thing straight through. A true musical event. I am completely stunned by it. Pure youthful genius force.

I'm going over to a friend's house for his bday. He's had tough times so hopefully I find he and his wife in good spirits. Just in case, I'm bringing lots of spirits.
