Over the past few days I made a ring out of an old silver half dollar. Here are some pictures of how it progressed! You can also see it on my hand in my new profile pic!
First you have to drill a hole in the very center of the coin.
You then put a bolt through it so as to not smash your fingers on the following steps.
Then you lightly tap the outer edge as you roll it along an anvil.
After you get a ways down you'll have to up the size of the hammer.
Once you get it down to a size you think it right you drill out as much of the center as you can without marring the inscription that's left in the center.
Then you file it the rest of the way.
Be careful not to take off the inscription.
Optional: you can then use a doming block and a press to slightly (or heavily depends on your personal preference) round the edge.
You will then lightly sand the exterior to remove any hammer marks and scratches.
Then you polish it and you're done!
