ok, worst update in SG history. I thought that i was gonna read an article with an opinion supported in some way by facts. Instead, we are given a piece that stereo-types, and gives no ethical argument either way, but instead, all too literally, relies on "you are with this group, or that." If the crux of an article is you are with this group (liberals) or with that (leftist) how could you ever come to an ethical choice? It would be nice to have facts, but maybe that would be on the side of "objectivism."
All leftist were against intervention in Bosnia? Wow, that is funny, i just read sacco's book on the subject, and he seems to be all for some kind of intervention. I could've sworn he was a "leftist." When the war was going on i read Chomsky's book on the subject -- this too was not against intervention. I would like to know what leftist he is talking about.
THe funniest part is the end, which hysterically is supposed to make you jump on the waggon. I cannot quote it exactly, but the part about wanting to not look like a jerk when the people of Iraq cheer when US millitary intervenes. Because i am sure they have been cheering for years with the sanctions against medicine and food that the US has put on their country. 5000 children are estimated to die each month because of the US's benevolence. With help like that who wouldn't cheer.
Saddam is a despot and a horrible man, but killing a bunch of people because they have a terrible leader is not nice. Come on, we didn't like it a couple of years ago when people did it to us!
