Heaven is Chasing Cars

Music is a huge part of my life. I've been using music as an excuse, escape, and motivation ever since I could remember having the ability to hear. There's music for every emotion and situation ranging from romantic nights to heartache to dance nights and depression. It's impossible to flip though my collection and not find a song that fits any situation to a tee. No matter the genre or story behind the song, no matter how crappy the pop is or intense the metal there is always something right there for you as it is for me.

I've always loved songs that were hard to sing or brought tears to my eye. Some of them may not have filled chapters in my biography because life was quite different, but nonetheless they spoke to me emotions I had deep inside that were walled off from ever being the truth I so cherished to have one day. It was usually love songs that affected me this way because songs like "My Heroine" was all too true with drug overdoses or even just chemicals taking my friends away from me and changing them into something less than they used to be, enjoying so much less in life and being chained to this existence that I'm not so sure they actually enjoyed themselves. Songs like "Rooster" by Alice in Chains or "One" by Metallica being heart-stirring because I've heard all the stories from family or old WWII veteran co-workers that makes all of the war movies I've ever seen look like children's stories.

Music can transport us to worlds we never knew or guide us to places we need to be or even lay a hand upon a shoulder and tell us we're not alone. I won't keep you much longer with my words as I must ready myself for another rough day of work. It's almost Thanksgiving in the US and people get crazy leading up to the day so that means too much work and not enough hands trying to satisfy folk who are overly demanding over a holiday that should see them as thankful that we're doing what we do as best we can to help them through. Life isn't magic and most of them should know that through their own struggles yet not everyone cares. Enough of that. Let's get on with a couple songs I was recently listening to.

I love Snow Patrol and listened to them a lot because of a girl but never stopped even when she disappeared. There are some great songs that really hit me during love and break-ups forever ago and I just recently discovered this Janet Devlin cover that I adore. She's a sweetheart and I could listen to her talk or sing forever. Don't get me started on those beautiful blues or wild red hair. You can tell a lot about someone by the song they chose, the inflections in their voice, the way the light reflects in their eyes, and the way their facial muscles reflect the heart's emotions and this lovely lass won me over forever ago. Somebody find me a girl like this!

I've been a fan of Bryan Adams since the early 80s after "Cuts Like a Knife" came out and was probably the strangest little kid listening to "Everything I Do" and "getting it" when I was too young to even understand what love was. We can fool ourselves and say we knew what love was as a teen and some of us still fool ourselves well into our 20s thinking we know what it means and feels like because someone takes interest or shows us something straight out of a rom com, but the truth is it's a very simple idea that most of us try to look at with blinders on. I don't know how a simple concept can be turned into a complex math problem or why people want it to be more complicated than it really is, but it's something we do. Well, that's a conversation for another day if anyone cares to have it with me.

Thanks again for reading as always!

harvest:
I can’t stop listening to Bryan Adams at the moment either! This blog really resonated with me, music fuels my soul and it can trigger so much emotion. I’ve got it on from the moment I’m awake until I’m falling asleep at night. Music is healing, it’s tribal. There’s an ancient connection we all have & it’s a universal language. I love singing, it gets me through this crazy life & keeps me focused! Much love❣️  ❤️🎶❤️
