Friday: Got lost in Chatham after trying to find an alternate route along the river side. Got to The Command House (actually it's just The Command now, the House part of the sign has mysteriously disappeared) after eight. Got fucking ID'd by the old boy at the front for the god knows how manyth time. Found Manny doing sound as he wasn't DJing at the Manor, Dave Wise had an Urban Fox distro set up so I got both Wolf Howard books and the new Zara Carpenter one, all for 20, sat down and had a chat with Manny in between him getting asked to help set stuff up. Wolf went on first "I notice there's less people here than when Zara did her reading" "and she's not here either" piped up one of his mates from the back, in fact there was a lot of people adding comments here and there, like the only people who showed up were the people who knew Wolf personally, I even heard Billy Childish pipe up from a dark corner of the room (he actually socialises! like he's real people!) It didn't actually feel that much like a real poetry reading, there was a lot of laughing and Wolf's mates/former band mates heckling (to which his normal reply was "you still here?" in a deadpan voice). Next Dave Wise set up slide shows of pictures from his books, one of them accompanied by a guy on acoustic guitar and a guy playing a Hurdy-Gurdy, then a strange electronic band, one guy dressed all in white with glasses on a Mac and keyboard and a woman dressed like a younger auntie singing about death and dying, kind of cool. Said bye to Manny and headed for the Tap. Kind of shit for a while, ran into Geoff, always cool to see him. I was thinking of leaving when I ran into Liam, pissed on cider as per usual at that time of night, hung out with him and his ex for a while, they went up to the top floor to dance, I went for a wander and lost track of them. Left at half one, came out of the kebab shop with chips and ran into Geoff again, had a chat about Hardcore and one of the bands he's managing (they're playing at Download this year, may check them out), got a taxi home, unfortunately this was one of the better nights out in Medway I've had recently.
