We are the disenfranchised. We are the swallowed. We are the statistics. We are the many.
Life has slowly deteriorated to a level that no one can believe, and would rather ignore than fight for.
We feel as if our voice is small. Powerless. Useless. Worthless. And it is. We have allowed others to usurp our voice. Our thoughts. Our emotions. Our souls. We have given up our beliefs, for... what?
On a daily basis we are told how inferior, how weak, how pointless, how utterly useless we are, and through the constant barrage of insults, we have allowed ourselves to believe it to be true.
The church has become our center of morality. The governement has become our ruler. The media has become our thoughts. All of them determine our self worth.
Slowly, we've become less and less educated. Slowly, our ability to form rational, logical thoughts has eroded. And they use this against us, even promote it. The uneducated are easier to control, and daily, they gain more control over us.
And we allow it. It's so much easier to just let someone else worry about it. It's so much easier to not have to think. It's so much easier to just do what we're told. Then we can all live our seperate little lives, with our seperate little families, in our seperate little houses, on our seperate little streets, in our seperate little parts of town.
This is WRONG.
We have the ability. We have the capacity. We have the need. We have the power. To think. To be educated. To understand the world around us.
And we have our OWN voice. We have our own opinions. We have our own thoughts. We can determine our own moral standards.
We determine our own self worth. We don't need it fed to us through the television, the radio, movies, news, church, government, and everyone and everything else that surrounds us.
Deep inside each of us are the answers to all our questions. They've always been there, always will be. We just have to trust ourselves, believe in ourselves, educate ourselves enough to let them out.
Let go of the ignorance. Allow yourself to be the intelligent, loving, worthwhile person you are. Stop trying to control everyone around you and take a good, long, hard look in the mirror at the only person you can ever hope to change.
Take back your power. Take back your voice. Take back your thoughts. Take back your morality. Put them where they should be.
UNDER YOUR CONTROL.

This rather longish rant was written by me in a fit of... well, in a fit several years ago after seeing Fight Club.
I had completely forgotten about it for quite a while, but recently found a copy of it while I was rummaging through boxes of stuff I had left with my parents. I was rather surprised to read it and find that, unlike many of my other writings, I actually still agree with it and still feel it is a valid rant. I tend to think it comes off a bit preachy, but I still like it and thought you might enjoy it.

Hope everyone is OK. I don't know when I'll be back to visit LA, but I will return at some point.
