Good day, chaps and chappettes. How are we all today? Rather spiffing I hope?
Was a bit quiet blog wise over the last few days. Couldn't get to a PC to harass you all with my tales of nonsense. Will be VERY quiet this weekend as I will be away near Derby......... LARPing. That's right LARPing. Where a load of people camp in a massive field, get dressed up like orcs, elves and demons and fight with fake weapons. I AM A MASSIVE GEEK. I REEK OF DA GEEK.
Ok, so now that's all out in the open. I've been going for a good few years now. My friends got me into it. A few months before they had got me into D&D and other such RPGs. Well they told me about I LARP I was unsure. Its got a lot of stigma surrounding it. I knew I was a geek, but was I that geek? Also the rules were kinda mind bending to me at that time. But anyway as a intro, my friends took me out for a bit of weapon sparring. That was pretty good fun I had to admit.
So I caved, tried to rustle up some kit/costume made out of stuff I found in second hand shops (if you could of seen my first costume, lmao! Maybe I'll post some pics if I can find them, and I'm brave enough). My first event was great fun. The best part is the full on battles. Hundreds of people on each side of the battlefield, forming shield walls, axes waving around, and battle cries heard for miles. I've been going ever since.
Yes there are people that take it way too seriously. You get cliques like you do in all walks of life. And there are people that you worry about how they exist outside of these events. But my group of friends, we just go there to have a laugh. To have a great weekend camping in the countryside, hit some people with fake weapons and basically twat about. Not to the point where we'd ruin anyone else's fun though.
So whats the plan for this year? Well this year my character is a human that has been taken control of be a parasitic creature kinda similar to a brain slug. Its kind of also inspired by Quato from Total Recall. I have these huge white robes that I bought a couple of events ago. They are awesome. They can make me look very imposing, keep me cool in the day and warm at night. Inside the robes somewhere I'll have the Boglin I bought from EBAY. Whenever I want to interact with someone in depth for any reason, I'll pull my arm out of my sleeve and produce the boglin out of the top of my robes.
I have a personality set for him and everything. His name shall be Danderton Balvermont-Smythe the 17th (would be the 18th but Grand papa used to like to interfere with goats, so we don't speak of him) and he's going to talk like a proper English gent. I'm also going to buy a big fake handlebar mustache for him to add to the effect.
This all may sound like lunacy but hopefully it shall prove ripe for a good few giggles. Pictures may be forth coming.... possibly. Maybe a jaunt into Nottingham is on the cards as well. Rock City, anyone?
If I'm not back in a week send help. xxx

It's weird isn't it! The interesting girl, brain evaporation ray! I always make plans to be the cool, collected stranger but it always gets the better of me! I know there's no point in freaking about it afterwards, but you know the way you start thinking of how stupid your voice sounds and everything.
It'll be my first one yep. The designs are a standard template i think. I'm rubbish at art and i thought it just really looked cool. Also i LOVE the Dark Tower series
