So HFStival 2004 came and went. I'll admit, it was a lot better than I had thought it was going to be.
When we got there, Krysite and I waled around for a while, looking for her man Nate, who had came all the way from Indiana just to see her. So after walking around for....ohh....about an hour and a half, in the extreme heat, we found him. We got some water, then made our way over to the street stage so we could watch Taking Back Sunday. I was excited. I wanted to see them really badly.
TBS was soooo good. Adam sounds so much better live than he does on the record. They were just so full of energy, and they had to go to Pittsburg later that night. They closed their set with 'You're So Last Summer' and Adam climbed on the set, thus is when I snapped that picture. I tokk others of them, but thats my favorite.
After they finished, we decided to go inside the stadium and sit down in the shade for a bit. We watched the last part of Yellowcard, they were ok. I'm not huge fans of theirs, so I wasn't really paying attention to them. Then the Lostprophets came on. That made me happy because I'm an old school fan of theirs and Ian makes me smile. Because hes hot. And so is Lee. But Ian...I love. I didn't get any pictures of them because we were so far up and even with my zoom, they were still tiny. So I decided not to bother. After they finished we went back to the street stage to watch the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and after them, Modest Mouse.
Karen O is so freaking cute in person!! She came out and fucking owned the stage. Nick, the 2nd picture, is adorable in person as well. And Brian isn't as scary looking in person either. Sadly I was kind of to the side, so I was unable to get any pictures of him. But Karen is just amazing. I loved when she stuck the mic in her mouth. She did 'Art Star' and that made me happy. That was the song Krystie made me listen to when I first got into the YYY's. When they did 'Maps' she dedicated it to her man and Brian's girl. I thought that was really cute. After they got off, Modest Mouse set up. We got there and Lit was finishing up. Nothing special. They kinda suck anyways.
They were really good as well. They played the same time as the Violent Femmes though. I wanted to see them too, but I couldn't leave Krystie for fear of getting seriously lost from her. Not that it would have made a difference anyways because I got fucking ignored the whole day. But I'll rant about that later. BACK TO MODEST MOUSE! I was really happy when they did 'Paper Thin Walls' because that is my ABSOLUTE favorite song by them! The lead singer has this very unique way of singing live. I really liked it.
So they finished and since no one we really wanted to see was on at the main stage, we walked around for a bit. We met up with Lisa and decided to go ride the pirate ship a few times.
Arrg matey! Ok sorry...inside joke. So we went and sttod in line and Krystie and I were goofing off and this picture was taken:
Isn't the sunburn on my face sexy?!?! I know...I know. That was like the only time I really got to talk to her the whole day. So after we rode the pirate ship twice, Lisa and I were talking while Krystie and Nate went to watch Jimmy's Chicken Shack on the locals only stage. Finally someone to talk to!! And I wasn't being ignored for some guy. Nate is nice and all, but I thought this was going to be one of the last times Krystie and I got to hang out before she left for a month. But what did she do all day? Made out with Nate and didn't talk to me.
While we were walking around I met a really really really really cute boy, I forget his name though, oops? But he was wearing a Taproot shirt and I was like 'I love your shirt!' and he was like 'Thanks!' We started talking about them and I showed him my tat, since part of it is a Taproot tat. He was waiting for his friends to get back from getting beer he said. He didn't go because he was straight edge. That made me happy because I am too. So he smiled at me and was like 'Sxe girls are the best!' and he hugged me and kissed my cheek. I was gonna melt. I was gonna kiss him but his damn friends had to come back and pulled him away. I was sad. I was hoping to see him again, but I didn't.
Oh well...
So we went and sat down again because I actually wanted to watch Jay-Z. Yes, he was there. I'll admit...I've been a fan of his since I was like 12. So I was excited to see him. He came on and he put on a really good show. This guy was sitting like 2 seats down from me and he 'pimped' me. Haha...meaning, he pulled my shirt while saying 'Ladies is pimps too.' I thought it was kinda cute.
So then The Offspring came on. Lisa asked if I wanted to go down on the floor with her. I didn't want to watch Krystie and nate make out anymore, so I said ok. We went down and got as close as we could. I had a lot of fun on the floor actually. Lisa and I were dancing and there was this really hot guy standing next to me, shirtless I might add. I "accidentally" bumped into him and my hand "accidentally" grabs his ass. He had a really really nice ass.
I would have stayed on the floor for The Cure but I couldn't see anything and I wanted to take pictures of Robert damnit!! So Lisa and I went back up, found better seats, much closer to the stage. Lisa held them while I went and got Krystie and Nate.
After waiting for like...35 minutes, The Cure came on!!!! I jumped up out of my seat and was screaming like I couldn't believe.
(Note: I cute out portions of them since I wasn't that close, I didn't want everyone to look at the huge black areas of the pics. I just cut out the important area
)
Oh...my....God....thats all I can really say. They opened with a new song, and I don't know what its called. But it was SOOO good. On the big screen they kept showing how Robert's hands moved on his guitar. Hes so amazing. I've got this thing for watching how people play their guitars, and he plays like no one I've ever seen before. I was dancing and singing, it was amazing. Their set, from what I can remember/know went like this:
(New Song)
Fascination Street
(Song I don't know the title to)
Lullaby
Love Song
Pictures of You
Just Like Heaven
(Then there were like 2 or 3 I didn't know)
Burn
Then they walked off and everyone started to leave. We started to walk up the steps, then we hear this loud applause. Robert comes out again and was like 'We've still got 2 and a half minutue, so we'll play another, and that was just 10 seconds.' I love his voice when he talks. I've got a thing for Enligsh accents. They started playing 'Boys Don't Cry'. That did it for me. I was in heaven. I was just bouncing around like I was 6 again. Then they finished, and Robert thanked everyone like 50 times and said he'd see us all in a few months. I'll be seeing them in a few months for sure!! I was kind of upset that they didn't play 'Friday I'm In Love' though. But still...I was very happy. They were just....amazing.
That was the little page they had on The Cure in the program book they gave out. I thought some of you would be interested in reading that.
So after the festival, we headed home. I came home, got a nice big glass of water, drank it in like 2 minutes, then crashed. I slept for a while, then went back to a friends for a while, came home, slept some more. I was fucking beat. My body was so sore, it still kida is. But still...it was amazing.
So I hope everyone enjoyed my story, if you didn't read all of it, I understand. I at least hope you enjoyed the pictures! Sorry the ones of The Cure wern't any better. I would have loved to have been closer. But still, I think they turned out ok.

Ya see though, my problem would be ... (just like it is with EVERY band I am really really into) is that I would be ultra happy to hear the things I wanted to hear, yet sad because I know they wont play EVERYTHING I want. sob
Ill brb ... I had something else to say to you, but I forgot what your post said, so lemme go back n read and ... reply to what u said, lol
First off, not to get off the subject YET AGN, but that was awfully thoughtful of u to warn the dial up users to skip your entry because of the long upload time of the pics. Rock, sista.
OK OK ... U like ayn rand ... and therefor I love you. Shes one of my all time fave writers of all time, most influential, most addictive, AAAAK! LOVE! The only problem with her is when she started to get older and more senile, her ideas got the best of her and pretty soon, she hated everyone in the world that wasnt HER. Because we were all "common ppl". Not ... "SUPERIOR" as she claimed to be. Other than that ... I worship her. Anthem is probably a lot like "Atlas shrugged", I have never read anthem, but atlas shrugged was damn good. The best in my opinion ... was by far ... THE FOUNTAINHEAD!!!
AND NO I HATE AIM, HATE IT HATE IT HATE!! Yes I do have aol, but I hardly ever give my name out to ppl because in order to even check my mail, I have to automatically log into my buddy list, then ppl bother me when I dont want to be bothered. And I'll even say "Hey, ya know, Id love to talk, but honestly I just signed on to check my mail."
and they just dont get it ... keep blabbing and blabbing so disrespectfully, and I gotta just sign off to get them away from me. lol
