Man, more than a month since I blogged last time, but I've been very busy. Currently running all over the Netherlands (and some part of Germany) to do some festivals as a part of a living museum. Still need to work on my outfit some more as it seems to plain and boring. But first I need to fix myself a good piece of rope to tie my pants back up. Last saturday we had a real drunkk party, and that killed my pants. Untying your pants, drunk and with an enormous urge to empty your bladder seems to result in me tearing my belt. Ow well, I'll just make a new one.
We had a variety of festivals, with one ending up in us having a permanent site to do our celtic stuff! It's an old celtic farm from the bronze age, where we will be part of the people that run it, as well as pieces of the museum, to show people how celts used to live in the bronze age. It is kind of a switch since we originally do iron age, but we already managed to find a smith who is willing to create bronze items for us! And one of the group is willing to do some apprenticing!
I'm personally still reading up on celtic lore, mythology and facts, but I'm already part of the children's entertainment with slings. We basically let kids use our slings to try and hit a target a few metres ahead of them. Sounds simple, but slings are actually a lot more difficult than I originally thought. The good thing is, my entire right arm is getting muscular... that will bring up some bad porn jokes
.
Funny thing with the kids is how they aim. They throw the sling all over the place, and do managed to hit their parents. Which is kinda funny, and the main reason we don't use rocks, but acorns, as ammunition.
Now... two more festivals to go. One in the south of Belgium, and another somewhere in the Netherlands. Then the festival season will be over once again. A bit of a shame. You really get used to living in a tent, without any technology, cooking over an open fire, having fun and making music with whoever manages to pass by at that moment!
But first things first; these are my last two days before I need to get back to my crummy job. In half an hour I;ll be going to pick up my girlfriend from work, meet her dad, and then move her to her new house tomorrow...
I just realized my two week vacation has been nothing but work. But good work!
